Job summary

Mill is a waste prevention tech company building systems that transform food scraps into valuable resources. We seek an experienced Firmware Engineer to work on a novel product, spanning hardware and software development from prototype to launch in a small, collaborative team.

You will develop embedded software, validate hardware, and debug systems with engineers and designers to optimize performance for real-world environments. This role emphasizes hands-on learning and creative problem solving.

Qualifications

• BS, MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering (obtained)
• 1–3 years professional experience in embedded software development
• Ability to work 3-5 days a week in office at our San Bruno location
• Experience writing, testing, and debugging embedded C to control electromechanical components and read sensors
• Strong analytical and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the cross functional team on embedded software and hardware validation of new products
• Write, test, and review embedded code to run on our systems and explore new ways to control our system
• Hands‑on support debugging systems during commissioning and supporting testing activities with electrical engineers and product designers
• Implement prototype drivers and testing on hardware systems
