Prattwhitney is hiring for an embedded systems developer role that involves modifying and testing LynxOS and RHEL Linux operating systems. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
The ideal candidate will have proficiency in programming languages including C and C++, as well as experience with scripting for automation. A strong background in debugging and embedded systems development is required.
Active U.S. government security clearance is necessary for this position.
Modify, debug, test, and add capability to LynxOS and RHEL Linux embedded operating systems. Work with application developers to add capability and resolve issues. Serve as the primary liaison with OS and toolchain vendors (e.g., Lynx, PTC), overseeing defect tracking and resolution for vendor deliverables and collaborating closely on design efforts and new customizations. Review software products for soundness of technical judgment and adequacy. Interact with senior software personnel through both written and verbal communication. Produce documentation related to the design and release of software artifacts. Develop complete software solutions and influence the successful completion of supported programs and projects. Understand and utilize Agile and DevSecOps software development methods, automation, and continuous integration. Follow organizational processes and procedures. Assist and participate in the requirements, design, development and testing of real‑time embedded software, application software, and tools, including development of new work products or enhancement of existing applications and systems. Collaborate with project managers and other professionals within Engineering.
Active and transferable U.S. government‑issued security clearance (Secret) is required prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is a prerequisite for obtaining clearance.
