Job summary

E Source is recruiting a Forward Deployed Data Engineer IV to embed with utility clients and build end-to-end data platforms in production. You will own architecture, drive discovery, and push fast, tangible results that turn data into decision-ready assets on client infrastructure.

The role emphasizes governance, security, and scalable pipelines using Databricks, Spark, Python, SQL and AWS, with travel to client sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of data engineering or analytics engineering experience, with production ownership.
• Expert proficiency in Python, SQL, Databricks, and Spark.
• Experience building cloud-based data pipelines in AWS; second cloud preferred.
• Knowledge of data governance, security, privacy, and quality practices.
• Strong written communication and whiteboarding skills.
• Experience in energy/utility industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Embed with utility clients to design and build production data platforms end to end.
• Own the technical architecture and defend it to client stakeholders.
• Deliver a working system early in engagements and iterate to production hardening.
• Lead migrations from legacy warehouses to modern platforms.
• Model data for downstream teams using dimensional, lakehouse, medallion, and graph models.
• Ensure pipelines are observable with lineage, quality checks, and runbooks.
