Job summary

Ultra Intelligence & Communications seeks an Embedded Software Engineer for its Ultra ProLogic encryption business. You will architect and implement security-critical software in C and Rust for cryptographic platforms, contributing to NSA High Assurance certification and fielded systems.

You will modernize legacy C code, transition to Rust in constrained environments, and collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver secure, certified solutions for defense networks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of embedded software development in C and/or Rust.
• Experience with low-level embedded development and debugging.
• ARM-based processors and SoC platforms familiarity.
• Memory management, concurrency, and deterministic embedded behavior understanding.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain embedded software in C and Rust for cryptographic and security-sensitive platforms.
• Architect cryptographic information assurance software and systems, defining security boundaries and trusted services.
• Perform trade studies and embedded architecture design with memory-safe transitions (C to Rust).
• Support NSA High Assurance certification processes: requirements decomposition, security architecture, and certification artifacts.
• Develop and maintain documentation: SHRS/IRS, ICDs, SHDD.
• Execute unit testing, integration, and acceptance testing including hardware-in-the-loop.
• Manage configuration control for software baselines.
• Collaborate with systems, hardware, security, and test engineers in a high-performance team.
• Identify process, tooling, and automation improvements to support secure development and certification efficiency.
• Travel ~5% for customer interaction or off-site activities.
