Job summary

Virginia Tech is seeking a Mental Health Professional to join the Cook Counseling Center and embedded within Residential Well-being. You will assess students, provide individual, couples, and group therapy, and support crisis interventions during after-hours on-call.

The position offers a 12-month regular appointment with a base salary of about $58,000–$66,000 plus benefits, and an on-campus apartment is available as part of the compensation package.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in clinical/counseling psychology or social work required.
• Licensed or license-eligible in Virginia for LPC/LCSW with supervision potential.
• Experience in focused therapeutic interventions within a multidisciplinary team.
• Supervised experience in mental health settings and with group psychotherapy.
• Experience managing crisis situations and risk assessments.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual, couples, and group psychotherapy for students.
• Conduct initial assessment and treatment planning.
• Offer crisis interventions and after-hours on-call backup.
• Deliver outreach, trainings, and ongoing therapy to residential students.
• Coordinate with campus housing and Residence Life staff.
