Job summary

Acara Solutions is seeking an Embedded Controls Design Engineer in Milwaukee, WI. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining software and firmware for precision power electronics (DC/DC and DC/AC converters).

You will collaborate with hardware engineers and lead software projects from concept to delivery. The ideal candidate has a strong background in control theory and embedded systems, with 3+ years in embedded control design, experience with Matlab/Simulink, RTOS, Verilog

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (emphasis on Control of Electric Motors and/or DC/DC converters).
• Minimum 3 years of embedded controls design engineering with strong background in control theory.
• Minimum 3 years experience with Matlab/Simulink and real-time operating systems.
• Minimum 1 year experience with Verilog HDL code.
• Minimum 3 years experience with C/C++, embedded software development.
• Minimum 1 year experience with GIT.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, debug and maintain OS and application software meeting technical and customer requirements.
• Adhere to coding and revision control standards.
• Solicit and incorporate customer and end user feedback to improve products.
• Conduct and participate in code and design reviews.
• Document designs with comments, reports and descriptions.
• Track and resolve reported bugs and perform thorough testing to verify fixes.
• Design and develop reusable software components and integrate them into designs.
• Work closely with electrical hardware engineers to ensure software/hardware compatibility.
• Serve as technical lead on assigned projects and address issues to honor commitments.

This position will design, implement and maintain the various software and firmware algorithms required for operating precision power electronics products (DC/DC and DC/AC converters). The ideal candidate has a strong background in Control Theory and embedded systems.
