Job summary

Acara Solutions is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to design, implement, test, and maintain embedded software, platforms, board-support packages, and device drivers for new and existing products. You will work closely with hardware and other engineering disciplines in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires strong C/C++ embedded experience, ARM/RTOS background, and leadership capabilities to mentor engineers and drive projects to deliverables while adhering to coding standards

Qualifications

• 10+ years of C++ object-oriented embedded software development including OO analysis and design.
• 5+ years of experience with ARM processors, RTOS-based systems and bare-metal implementations.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, debug, and support embedded OS and application software.
• Develop embedded software in C/C++, including reusable components for new and existing designs.
• Lead / mentor engineers.
• Conduct unit, integration, and system testing; track defects and validate fixes.
• Develop automated tests and tools in Python or a similar high-level language.
• Document designs through code comments, reports, and technical descriptions.
• Follow established coding standards and best practices, including version-controlled workflows and peer code reviews.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to ensure software/hardware compatibility and performance.
• Serve as technical lead on assigned projects, coordinating with functional groups and customers to meet deliverables and resolve issues.
• Drive innovative designs based on input from product management and customers.
• Use AI tools effectively to improve productivity and code quality.

Job Requirements

What You'll Bring

• BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Min 10 years of C++ object oriented embedded software development experience including object-oriented analysis and design skills, to create maintainable, modular, and reusable software architectures
• 5 years minimum experience with ARM processors, RTOS-based systems (e.g., FreeRTOS, Zephyr, Embedded Linux), and bare-metal implementations.

• Strong understanding of microcontroller architecture, timing, memory, interrupts, multithreading, real-time scheduling, IPC, and deterministic networking.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills; well organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities independently under deadlines.
