Acara Solutions is seeking an Embedded Controls Design Engineer for our Milwaukee, on-site team. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining software and firmware for precision power electronics products, with emphasis on control theory and embedded systems.

You will collaborate with hardware engineers and lead project efforts while ensuring software quality, documentation, and customer feedback integration.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with emphasis on Control of Electric Motors and/or DC/DC converters.
• Min 3 years of embedded controls design engineering experience with a strong background in control theory.
• Min 3 years of experience with Matlab/Simulink and real time Operating Systems.
• Min 1 year of experience with Verilog HDL code.
• Min 3 years of experience with C/C++, embedded software development.
• Min 1 year of experience with GIT.

Responsabilités

• Design, implement, test, debug and provide ongoing support for OS and application software meeting requirements.
• Adhere to coding and revision control standards.
• Incorporate customer and end user feedback to improve products.
• Conduct and participate in code and design reviews.
• Document designs with comments, reports, and descriptions.
• Track and resolve bugs and perform thorough testing of fixes.
• Develop reusable software components and integrate them into designs.
• Collaborate with electrical hardware engineers to ensure software-hardware compatibility.
• Serve as technical lead on assigned projects and address issues to meet commitments.

This position will design, implement and maintain the various software and firmware algorithms required for operating precision power electronics products (DC/DC and DC/AC converters). The ideal candidate has a strong background in Control Theory and embedded systems.

• Design, implement, test, debug and provide ongoing support for operating system and application software that meets technical and customer requirements
• Adhere to established coding and revision control standards
• Solicit and incorporate customer and end user feedback to further improve our products
• Conduct and participate in code and design reviews

• Track and resolve reported bugs and perform thorough testing to verify the effectiveness of the fix
• Design and develop reusable software and system components, and integrate them into existing and new designs

• Serve as technical lead on assigned projects, working with other functional groups and customers to meet deliverables, and to address and resolve technology or product issues to honor commitments
