Job summary

Cornell Health is seeking an Embedded Therapist to deliver in-person mental health services across Cornell campuses, integrating care with CAPS. The role focuses on short-term counseling, outreach, and education for diverse student populations.

The position requires NY licensure and experience in college mental health, with occasional after-hours outreach and collaboration with faculty and staff to support student success. Salary is set for a Counselor Therapist II level.

Qualifications

• Master of social work degree with C or R designation (LCSW or LCSW-R) or Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology (PhD or PsyD) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and 3-5 years of work-related experience.
• Licensed in New York State.
• Strong interest in entrenching clinical services within the culture of academics and the campus community.
• Professional autonomy and maturity delivering services in satellite locations.
• Experience with college mental health issues including suicidality, eating disorders, substance use, depression, anxiety, trauma.

Responsibilities

• Provide single-session therapy, short-term individual counseling, and group workshops.
• Deliver tailored outreach and programming, referrals, and consultation as needs arise.
• Be a point of contact for mental health education and prevention strategies across academic units.
• Consult with staff and faculty regarding student mental health issues.
