Job summary

Cornell Health's Embedded Therapists in CAPS deliver in-person mental health services to Cornell students across Ithaca campuses. The role focuses on single-session therapy, short-term counseling, outreach and tailored programming within academic settings.

Applicants should have an advanced degree in social work or psychology, NY licensure, and experience in college mental health. Onsite work at Cornell campuses with a collaborative, student-centered approach is required.

Qualifications

• Master of social work degree with “C” or “R” designation (LCSW or LCSW-R) or Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology (PhD or PsyD) and 3–5 years of work-related experience.
• Licensed in New York State.
• Strong interest in embedding clinical services within academics and campus community.
• Ability to deliver services independently in satellite locations and maintain confidential records.

Responsibilities

• Provide single-session therapy and short-term individual counseling.
• Run group workshops, outreach and programming tailored to student needs.
• Provide referrals, consultation and additional mental health services as required.
• Collaborate with Cornell Health and campus staff to support student well-being.
• Consult with staff and faculty on student mental health issues.
