Job summary

General Motors in Sunnyvale, CA is hiring an early‑career Software Engineer for the AV Data Recording team. You will help build embedded vehicle software for fleet‑scale data collection, ensuring privacy and data quality for model training and evaluation.

You’ll work across Linux/QNX, collaborates with AI, backend and embedded teams, and ramp up with experienced engineers. The role focuses on real‑time data capture, validation, and delivery from vehicle compute platforms, with a path to growth

Qualifications

• Recent graduate with BS/MS/PhD in CS/engineering, joining within 9 months.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, OS, or distributed systems.
• Proficient in C++ and/or Python, with Linux development experience.
• Able to debug complex software and communicate in a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded vehicle software that collects high‑value data for autonomous driving AI learning.
• Build components that capture, filter, validate, package, and offload vehicle and sensor data from the fleet.
• Improve data quality, privacy enforcement, reliability, observability, and performance across workflows.
• Build embedded software that controls data capture, monitoring, and delivery from vehicle compute platforms.
• Debug complex issues across Linux and QNX‑based vehicle software, RT data recording pipelines, and backend integration.
• Collaborate with AI, backend, embedded platform, and system teams to meet development needs.
• Deliver reliable software through requirements, reviews, automated testing, CI, and incremental development.
• Learn and apply production engineering practices for performance testing and rollout readiness.
