Brookings School District 05-1 is seeking an English Language Learner Teaching Assistant to support certified staff. Responsibilities include assisting with learning activities, tutoring students, and maintaining records, while promoting a positive learning environment.

Position is full-time with benefits; 75% of health and dental premiums paid, vision and AFLAC options, SD retirement, and a $25,000 life policy. 2 positions available, open until filled.

Qualifications

• Basic concepts of child growth and development; developmental behavior characteristics.
• Student behavior management strategies and techniques.
• Appropriate English usage, punctuation, spelling, and grammar.
• Basic arithmetical concepts.
• Routine record management, storage, and retrieval systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist instructional personnel with the presentation of learning materials and activities.
• Tutor individual students and small groups to reinforce learning.
• Monitor and assist students in drill, practice, and study activities.
• Direct students in safe learning activities and support positive social behaviors.
• Assist in managing student behavior with positive strategies.
• Prepare instructional materials and learning aids for individuals or groups.
• Maintain records and confidential student information.
• Operate and assist with instructional media equipment.
• Requisition and manage inventory of textbooks and supplies.
• Administer routine first aid and seek help for injuries.
• Maintain an orderly, positive learning environment.
• Participate in parent conferences and progress reports.
