Job summary

Estes-Express-Lines is seeking an experienced trailer mechanic to perform repairs and preventive maintenance on our fleet of trailers in Knoxville, TN. The role requires interpreting work orders and manuals, diagnosing issues, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

You will inspect and test repaired equipment to verify performance and adherence to manufacturer specifications, with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; equivalent background.
• Must be 17+ years old.
• One year of experience or trade school; or equivalent.
• Able to use hand tools and test equipment.
• Must have own tools.
• Know general repairs and PM criteria.
• Capable of keeping up with changing technology and updates.
• Mechanical aptitude and interest in electronics and precision equipment.
• Must lift approximately 70 lbs.
• CDL and acceptable MVR required if driving on public roads; CDL holder must be FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse registered.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills.
• Self-starting and organized.
• Strong work ethic and problem solving skills.
• Willing to work nights/weekends; flexible schedule.
• Able to interact well with others; work independently or in a team.
• Capable of meeting deadlines in high-volume environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on trailers.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and maintain equipment.
• Complete safety inspections and FMCSA-required safety documents.
• Interpret work orders and technical manuals.
• Test repaired equipment to meet specs and regulations.
• Regular attendance is required.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
