Job summary

Harvard Protection Services is seeking a Security Officer for a flexible schedule at our Chicago site. The officer delivers professional security and life-safety services, maintaining a visible presence and handling access control, patrols, and incident reporting.

Responsibilities include greeting guests, monitoring alarms, enforcing policies, and producing accurate reports. Licensing and reliable transportation are required, with strong communication skills expected.

Qualifications

• State or municipality mandated security officer licenses (20 Hour Security Training).
• Possess PERC card and meet licensing requirements.
• Flex scheduling availability and reliable means of transportation.
• Strong communication and neat, professional appearance.
• Ability to write routine logs and incident reports.

Responsibilities

• Maintain professional demeanor and assist customers, employees, visitors, and guests.
• Maintain visible presence in the assigned location.
• Monitor environment and detect suspicious or unsafe activity.
• Familiarize with incoming/outgoing traffic and key contacts.
• Greet people professionally and answer phones appropriately.
• Permit entry and monitor entrances/exits per policy.
• Enforce facility policies within role limits.
• Perform patrols on foot or by vehicle as required.
• Observe departing personnel to prevent theft and ensure proper removal of property.
• Follow emergency action plans and monitor alarms/systems.
• Prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities.
