Job summary

The City of Memphis seeks a Firefighter/Paramedic to deliver emergency medical care, operate ambulances and firefighting equipment, and coordinate with hospital staff during crises.

You must be a U.S. citizen, aged 21–45 by the start date, TN-licensed paramedic or eligible for reciprocity, and hold a valid Class D driver license with Endorsement F.

The role requires meeting NFPA standards, passing medical and physical tests, and residing within Shelby County after hire.

Qualifications

• United States citizenship required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ages 21–45 by start date.
• TN paramedic license or reciprocity eligibility and licensure before employment.
• Valid TN Class D driver's license with Endorsement F.

Responsibilities

• Ask patients or bystanders questions to gather medical information.
• Administer medical treatment per condition and protocols.
• Transport patients by ambulance or other vehicle as needed.
• Drive emergency ambulance on calls and respond safely to incidents.
• Operate rescue tools (e.g., jaws-of-life) and extinguish fires as required.
• Maintain equipment and ensure readiness of apparatus.
