Job summary

Mt. Rose Development Company is seeking a Freeride Ski COMP Team Coach to lead young athletes through development stages per USSS and PSIA methods, emphasizing safety, fun, and skill growth.

You will prepare skiers for Freeride competitions, supervise safety protocols, and collaborate with Ski Team staff to deliver high-quality coaching across alpine terrain and terrain park progressions.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service and organizational skills.
• Ability to proficiently ski Advanced and Expert terrain in all conditions.
• Ability to work under pressure, cross-train, multi-task, prioritize tasks, and follow direction from Management.
• Ability to work with Ski Team Supervisors and coaches.
• Ability to teach/coach Advanced and Expert-level skiers, including terrain park progressions.
• Must be able to pass a background check.
• Equipment must be tuned and certified for all conditions.

Responsibilities

• Must be able to work 20+ shifts minimum throughout the season.
• Maintain SafeSport certification or complete SafeSport training by deadline (employer-paid).
• Assist in general operation of ski school and resort activities.
• Facilitate safety, group handling, and training operations rules with coaches and athletes.
• Establish rapport with athletes and families; develop camaraderie in a fun coaching environment.
• Communicate issues and needs to Coaches, Supervisors, Director, and Ski Patrol.
• Travel to and coach at regional competitions (no international travel).
• Facilitate dryland training as required.
• Support training operations from AM prep to PM debrief and end-of-day wrap.
