Job summary

Chimera Enterprises in Martinsburg, WV is seeking an experienced Master Course Approval SME to support the Coast Guard NMC Mariner Credentialing Program. The candidate will evaluate mariner training courses, sites, and instructors to ensure conformance with national regulations and international standards.

You will manage a high volume of evaluations, draft formal recommendations for government review, and participate in required training at the NMC.

Qualifications

• MMC required: Master Unlimited Oceans or Chief Mate Unlimited Oceans
• Five years sailing experience on the required credential
• STCW certificate not required for this role

Responsibilities

• Evaluate courses, curricula, sites, and instructors for conformance with 46 CFR Parts 10, 11, 12 and MSM.
• Draft formal recommendations and responses for Coast Guard reviews.
• Maintain a high volume of evaluations, targeting at least 20 course approvals per month.
• Attend mandatory two-week training/orientation at NMC in Martinsburg, WV and any government-requested onsite training.
• Possess advanced understanding of maritime regulations and international standards.
• Draft official correspondence and technical recommendations for government reviews.
