Job summary

The State of South Carolina Department of Social Services is seeking an Eligibility Specialist I to support SNAP, TANF, ESAP, and SCCAP programs. You will conduct interviews, process applications and renewals, and maintain accurate, confidential case records in our secure systems.

You will also identify overpayments, refer cases for integrity review, participate in trainings, and uphold strict protection of personal information while performing duties in a community-focused environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; Bachelor's degree may substitute.
• Experience with SNAP, TANF, ESAP programs preferred.
• Ability to conduct quality interviews daily.
• Strong record-keeping and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Conduct at least 15 quality interviews per day (phone or in-person).
• Process SNAP, TANF, ESAP, and SCCAP applications and renewals.
• Maintain confidential case records in agency systems.
• Identify and document overpayments; prepare referrals.
• Participate in required trainings and meetings.
• Protect PII and safeguard systems.
• Perform Red Cross shelter duties as required.
