Job summary

SmartRecruiters, Inc. is recruiting for an Eligibility Specialist, Level II, for the City of New York Department of Social Services. The role supports Fair Hearing Administration, reviewing decisions, verifying eligibility, and recalculating budgets to ensure compliance and timely actions.

The position requires a civil service title or progression from provisional status with an exam; hours are 9am–5pm, and the team handles Cash Assistance, SNAP, MA, and related programs.

Qualifications

• Completion of 30 semester credits at an accredited college or university; or
• A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in eligibility or related work; or
• A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to the above. College credits may substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyzes Fair Hearing decisions to determine correct action.
• Verify case information using WMS, eMedNY and FHIS to determine eligibility status.
• Recalculate budgets to restore benefits when required.
• Respond to inquiries and provide updates on action taken.
• Provide information regarding PHD eligibility and ensure compliance with regulations.
