Job summary

The Equity seeks an Elevator Operator for the Effingham, IL grain facility. This seasonal role supports daily grain handling, conditioning, storage, and loading operations with a focus on safety and customer service.

You will work closely with the Grain Superintendent to maintain quality and communicate inventory needs. Responsibilities include operating equipment, following safety policies, and assisting with general facility maintenance while ensuring compliance with regulations.

Effingham - Elevator Operator (Seasonal)

The Elevator Operator position supports the daily operation of the grain facility, helping ensure the safe, efficient handling, storage, conditioning, and movement of grain. This position works closely with the Grain Superintendent to maintain grain quality, monitor facility operations, communicate inventory and storage needs, and provide excellent customer service. The ideal candidate is committed to safety, knowledgeable of grain industry regulations, and willing to assist with all aspects of facility maintenance and operations.

Reports to

$17-$20 per hour

Key Responsibilities

• Follow all personnel and safety policies


• Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all established personnel and safety policies and procedures


• Assists the grain superintendent with the operation of the grain facility. Receiving, grading, conditioning, drying, storing, blending, and loading out of grain in accordance with the policies and procedures established by the VP of Grain and Grain Superintendent


• Be knowledgeable of governmental regulations concerning OSHA, EPA, and the storing and handling of grain.


• Assists customers in a prompt, efficient, and courteous manner


• Assists the grain superintendent in communication of quantity and quality of grain stocks and storage space available


• Perform all tasks required at the facility that contribute to customer service, grain conditioning and facility maintenance

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Leadership Characteristics

• Must possess excellent communication skills.


• Demonstrates the ability to interact effectively with management and customers


• Has a self-motivating personality as well as team-building skills


• Must be 18 years of age or older

All safety equipment provided by the company. The employee will work both inside and outside with mechanical equipment and occasionally climbing and working in high places.
