Job summary

Southeast Elevator is hiring an Installation Mechanic Apprentice in Charleston, SC. This entry-level role offers mentoring, hands-on training, and a clear path to advancement within 12–18 months as a lead mechanic with increased responsibility and pay.

During the program you’ll learn to install and service residential elevators and wheelchair lifts, work in small teams, and develop safety and regulatory knowledge that underpins a skilled trade with growing demand.

Qualifications

• Comfortable working at heights and on ladders.
• Ability to lift up to 150 lbs.
• Experience using hand tools safely and properly.
• Prior elevator or construction experience preferred, but not required.
• Customer-oriented, motivated self-starter.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Install residential elevators and wheelchair lifts.
• Work as part of a two-person installation team on job sites.
• Assist in training and mentoring new team members.
• Interface professionally with customers and general contractors.
• Demonstrate strong safety awareness and regulatory compliance.
• Develop knowledge of safety codes and industry standards.
• Multi-task with patience, accuracy, and attention to detail.
• Operate basic computer equipment and mobile devices.
• Maintain a clean driving record.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
