Job summary

Unitec, part of American Elevator Group, seeks an Elevator Helper for its New York City location. You will assist a Mechanic on modernization projects, move tools and materials, and help secure parts during installations and repairs.

The role requires 2+ years in the field and a valid driver’s license, with strong safety awareness. The job involves lifting heavy equipment, working in confined spaces, and adhering to safety protocols across commercial and residential sites.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years’ relevant elevator experience.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, electrical, engines or HVAC.
• Elevator experience or technical military training preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and safety orientation.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Mechanic with elevator maintenance on modernization jobs.
• Transport tools, equipment, and materials to and from sites.
• Hold, position, and secure parts during installation or repair.
• Follow safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment.
• Help troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
• Maintain a clean and organized job site.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
