Job summary

Unitec Elevator LIC in New York City seeks an experienced A Elevator Modernization Mechanic to install and modernize elevators and lifting equipment. You will diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues, read schematics, and perform close-tolerance work on control circuits.

The role requires a NYS/ NYC mechanics license, an apprenticeship or technical training, and at least five years of hands-on elevator experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid NYS & NYC Mechanics License required.
• Apprenticeship program or technical school training in elevator repair.
• Minimum five years of experience in elevator repair and installation.
• Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, safety regs and codes.
• Ability to read and understand schematics.
• Experience with hydraulic elevators.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Make repairs or replace defective parts to complete repairs.
• Inspect equipment regularly to ensure proper operation.
• Repair worms, gears, wiring, and controllers.
• Perform machine babbitting, thrust renewals, motor/controller work.
• Maintain accurate service records of repairs.
• Provide excellent customer service to building owners and occupants.
• Follow safety protocols and regulations.
