Job summary

Lerch Bates Inc. seeks experienced Field Inspectors to assess existing vertical transportation systems in diverse buildings. You will conduct field inspections, maintenance audits, and modernization evaluations, with clear documentation and actionable recommendations.

Focus on established buildings, advising owners on performance, code compliance, and lifecycle planning. Strong communication and a detail‑oriented approach are essential.

Qualifications

• QEI certification or ability to qualify is required.
• Nevada Elevator Special Inspector license or ability to qualify is required.
• Strong knowledge of conveyance equipment installation, maintenance and codes.
• Prior experience in the elevator or vertical transportation industry.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and inspection accuracy.
• Ability to work in elevated and confined environments.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field evaluations of existing vertical transportation systems (elevators, escalators, moving walks, etc.).
• Perform condition assessments, maintenance audits, code reviews, and modernization evaluations.
• Document conditions, performance, deficiencies, and observations during site visits.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports and technical recommendations.
• Communicate observations and risks to support maintenance and modernization decisions.
• Manage your schedule and coordinate with owners, managers, and stakeholders.
• Maintain knowledge of industry codes and participate in special projects.
