Job summary

Unitec Elevator LIC, part of American Elevator Group, seeks an Apprentice for its Long Island City location. You will assist the Mechanic on construction jobs, keep tools organized, run parts, and maintain tools and equipment to ensure safe work practices.

The role requires lifting heavy equipment, working at heights or in confined spaces, and adherence to safety protocols. Prior elevator or HVAC knowledge is beneficial.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with hydraulics, electrical, engines or HVAC preferred.
• Elevator experience or military training preferred.
• Physically able to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Mechanic with repair of existing elevators.
• Transport tools, equipment, and materials to/from work sites.
• Hold, position, and secure parts during installation or repair.
• Clean machine parts, rails, and cables as instructed.
• Follow safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment.
• Help troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical/electrical issues.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area at job sites.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
