Job summary

The State of South Carolina, Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (LLR), seeks an inspector to conduct investigations and audits of elevator and amusement ride inspections, ensure compliance, and report findings. The role requires analyzing blueprints, preparing formal reports, and promoting safety in elevators and rides.

Travel is required to cover multiple counties within the state. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma, with a bachelor’s as substitution for experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; bachelor's degree may substitute for experience.
• NAESA QEI and NAARSO certifications preferred.
• Knowledge of SC Elevator Safety Code and SC Amusement Rides Safety Code desired.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine and non-routine investigations and audits of elevator and amusement ride inspections.
• Inspect new installations and alterations of elevators and related equipment.
• Submit written reports with findings and recommendations for citations.
• Report audit findings, conduct follow-ups on deficiencies, and promote safety of rides and elevators.
