Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with children, preferably in an educational or special needs setting.
• Ability to demonstrate patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills.
• Physical ability to support students with mobility or self-care tasks.

Responsibilities

• Support the lead teacher in planning and delivering instructional activities tailored to students' developmental and educational needs.
• Provide one-on-one or small group support to reinforce learning, monitor progress, and ensure engagement.
• Assist in the implementation of IEPs, behavior intervention plans (BIPs), and accommodations or modifications as directed.
• Monitor student behavior and provide positive behavioral supports to maintain a respectful and orderly classroom environment.
• Support students with daily living skills, including toileting, feeding, dressing, and mobility, as needed.
• Prepare and organize instructional materials, classroom displays, and learning centers.
• Assist with the supervision of students during recess, lunch, transitions, and other non-classroom activities.
• Maintain accurate records related to student progress, behavior incidents, and daily notes as directed.
• Collaborate effectively with teachers, specialists, therapists, and parents to promote student success.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and training sessions as required.
