Job summary

KIPP Capital Region is seeking an Apprentice Teacher to work under a Lead Teacher and gain progressive teaching responsibilities across the academic year at schools in Albany and Troy, NY. This role involves tutoring, grading support, classroom supervision, and active collaboration with grade-level teams.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and NYS teaching licensure (or willingness to pursue). Flexible hours and a strong commitment to equity are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Valid NYS Teaching Licensure or willingness to pursue state certification.
• Experience as a school educator.
• Prior experience in urban communities preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule outside regular hours.
• Commitment to inclusive environments and equity.

Responsibilities

• Supports Lead Teachers with tutoring, grading, and small group instruction.
• Observes Lead Teachers to improve instructional techniques and classroom management.
• Supervises students during classes, breaks, meals, and transitions in partnership with the Lead Teacher.
• Assists with office tasks, enrichment classes, events, and mentoring partnerships.
• Attends family nights, conferences, and other school events as needed.
• Plans and delivers standards-aligned curriculum with the grade level team.
• Provides daily student feedback and plans for individual learning needs.
• Co-leads advisory/homeroom sessions with the Lead Teacher and supports data-driven instruction.
• Establishes strong communication with parents and families.
