Job summary

KIPP Capital Region is seeking an Apprentice Teacher to join our team in Albany and Troy, NY. You will work under a Lead Teacher, gaining progressive teaching responsibilities throughout the academic year as you support instruction and student growth.

You will collaborate with grade-level teams, deliver standards-aligned lessons, and participate in after-hours school events to engage families and the community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Valid NYS Teaching Licensure or willingness to pursue state certification.
• Experience as a school educator, preferably in a charter or public school environment.
• Prior experience working in urban communities preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule and create an inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

• Supports Lead Teachers with tutoring, grading, and individual or small group student instruction.
• Observes Lead Teachers to improve instructional techniques and classroom management.
• Provides supervision of students during class, breaks, meals, and transitions in partnership with the Lead Teacher.
• Assist with various tasks inside and outside the classroom, including enrichment classes, events, and mentoring learning partnerships.
• Attends and participates in events outside regular school hours (family nights, performances, field trips, conferences, etc.).
• Plan and execute a rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum with the grade level team.
