Job summary

The Birmingham Board of Education is seeking an Elementary Teacher to join schools across Birmingham. The position reports to the principal and follows the Certified Schedule 16 with a salary range of $49,080 to $93,875, depending on degree level recognized by ALSDE.

Workdays total 9 months (187 days). The teacher will create a learning environment, implement an effective program in line with standards, utilize technology, assess student progress, and participate in school improvement activities

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• A valid Alabama Teacher's Certificate.
• Must meet Every Student Succeed Act (ESSA) federal and state requirements or a willingness to meet the requirements.

Responsibilities

• Utilize technology to plan and provide instruction and facilitate student learning.
• Model appropriate and innovative use of technology for students
• Facilitate and monitor the integration of technology in the classroom
• Provide modifications for students with special needs, including exceptional education students and students who have limited proficiency in English as required
• Participate in administration of local and state testing as assigned
• Use formative and summative assessment to monitor student progress; interprets and uses data for instructional planning and program evaluation
• Engage in personal professional growth, adheres to professional standards, and demonstrates professional ethics, sound judgment, and leadership
