Job summary

Texas State University is seeking an Assistant Professor of Instruction in Elementary STEM Education in the College of Education, San Marcos. The candidate will teach STEM elementary methods to teacher candidates, supervise field experiences, and contribute to program development in alignment with TEA requirements.

The role reports to the department chair and collaborates across the college to advance teacher preparation.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in education-related field from an accredited university.
Teacher certification.
A minimum of 3 years of successful PK-12 teaching experience.
Demonstrated knowledge in teacher preparation, research-based practices and STEM pedagogy.
Experience teaching STEM, mathematics, and/or science to novice teachers during clinical experiences.

Responsibilities

Teach STEM elementary methods courses for teacher candidates as per TEA and university requirements.
Supervise teacher candidates during their clinical residency experience.
Develop and sustain STEM teaching to support the elementary education program’s long-term success.
Collaborate with education methods faculty and university colleagues; contribute to program improvement and service.
Teach assigned courses and foster high-quality instruction while building partnerships with PK-12 partners.
