Job summary

South Orange is seeking a Leave Replacement Special Education Teacher for Marshall Elementary School. The assignment is 1.0 FTE, from 9/1/26 through 2/27/27, with responsibilities for delivering instruction and supporting students with disabilities in collaboration with general education teachers.

Candidates should have NJ licensure in special education or eligibility, along with teaching experience or demonstrated knowledge of effective teaching methods and behavior modification strategies.

Qualifications

• New Jersey Instructional Certificate or eligibility.
• Teaching experience preferred, but not required.
• Demonstrated knowledge in subject area.
• Familiarity with use of technology as instructional tool.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Required criminal history background check.
• Proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident/immigrant status.

Responsibilities

• Implements instruction to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity and interests.
• Guides learning toward curriculum goals and objectives.
• Uses instructional methods and materials appropriate for meeting objectives.
• Assesses student performance and provides progress reports.
