Job summary

ChanceLight Behavioral Health, Therapy, & Education, a ChanceLight company, is seeking a Special Education Teacher for an elementary learning center. You will design dynamic learning experiences for students with IEPs and deliver targeted instruction using innovative resources and technology.

You will collaborate in a co-teaching setting, adapt content for diverse needs, track progress, and maintain detailed records while upholding state standards and PBIS principles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in education, special education or related field.
• Licensed in Illinois (PEL) or in the process of obtaining PEL.
• IL Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) credential in process or obtained.
• Ability to obtain crisis management training certification.
• Experience in curriculum development, differentiation and instruction in alternative/special education or behavioral health settings.
• Experience with IEPs and compliance for students with learning needs.
• Proven ability to develop and implement education plans for at-risk students.

Responsibilities

• Lead instructional process for elementary students with IEPs, designing personalized learning experiences.
• Deliver targeted instruction and integrate educational software and curricula.
• Create comprehensive lesson plans and schedules aligned with standards.
• Maintain organized student records and track progress, generating detailed reports.
• Provide differentiated instruction in co-teaching environments to meet IEP goals.
• Adapt curricular content to diverse learning styles and support staff on differentiation.
• Utilize varied instructional methods and resources to engage students.
• Manage student caseloads and implement IEP goals and interventions.
• Prepare daily plans and organize instructional materials to meet objectives.
• Maintain safe, welcoming classrooms and manage supplies according to procedures.
• Stay informed on current instructional practices and pursue ongoing growth.
• Respond to feedback from evaluations and observations positively.
• Support school community with additional duties contributing to program success.
