Job summary

Ampersand Therapy is seeking a full-time Special Education Teacher for a school setting in Billingsley, AL. You’ll implement instruction aligned with ACOS, develop and monitor IEP goals, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support student progress.

You will facilitate IEP meetings and maintain proactive communication with families while using differentiated instruction, data-driven methods, and engaging resources to maximize student achievement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Professional certificate in the area of responsibility issued by the Alabama State Department of Education.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • School-based experience preferred, not required.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver standards-based instruction aligned with the Alabama Course of Study (ACOS), developing and implementing engaging lesson plans to support diverse learning needs.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure student goals and accommodations were effectively addressed.
  • Facilitate IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and ongoing communication with families, educators, and support staff regarding student progress and needs.
  • Utilize differentiated instruction, educational technology, and a variety of instructional resources to maximize student engagement and achievement.
  • Assess student performance through formal and informal evaluations, using data to monitor progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
  • Establish and maintained a positive classroom environment by implementing effective behavior management strategies and enforcing school policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate student records, documentation, reports, and compliance requirements in accordance with federal, state, district, and school regulations.
  • Support overall school operations through collaboration with colleagues, participation in professional meetings, and completion of additional duties assigned by school and district administrators.
