Job summary

Abilene ISD in Texas seeks an Elementary School Special Education Teacher (Pooled) to provide tailored learning activities and experiences for students with special needs, supporting intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.

The position involves collaboration with ARD, IEP goals, curriculum modification, and delivering instruction across self-contained or itinerant settings, with emphasis on assessment, planning, and family communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and SPED certification.
• Experience with ARD and IEP processes.
• Ability to develop and modify curricula for students with special needs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans aligned to district curriculum with written preparation evidence.
• Prepare lessons with accommodations for individual student differences.
• Present material per TEA guidelines and district policies.
• Plan and use strategies, materials, and technology tailored to learning styles.
• Assess student learning and adjust instructional activities accordingly.
• Collaborate with other SPED staff to modify curricula per IEPs.
• Work with staff to determine goals, objectives, and methods.
• Assign and supervise instructional aides and volunteers.
• Use technology to strengthen teaching/learning processes.
• Support student growth, assess progress, and sponsor extracurricular activities.
• Maintain professional relationships with parents and community.
