Job summary

LUBBOCK INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT is seeking a Special Education Educational Aide for Waters Elementary School. This non-exempt role supports the special education teacher with instructional and personal care tasks, ensuring a safe, structured environment for students with disabilities.

Primary duties include assisting with self-help and behavior management, preparing instructional materials, and supervising students throughout the day.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Experience with children is preferred.
• Ability to work with children with disabilities.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Assist the special education teacher in preparing instructional materials and displays.
• Maintain a neat, orderly classroom and assist with inventory and equipment maintenance.
• Help teachers keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers when needed.
• Supervise students during the day, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duties.
• Support and implement classroom programs and behavior management plans.
