Democracy Prep Public Schools seeks an Elementary Special Education Teacher to deliver engaging instruction tailored to diverse learning needs. The role emphasizes high expectations, high support, and a culture of inclusion and active citizenship.

You will use data to drive instruction and collaborate with colleagues to support scholars from Harlem to the Bronx. The position is in-person five days a week, with a salary range reflecting experience and NY certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• 2+ years of teaching experience, preferably in urban education.
• New York State certification, Students with Disabilities K-12, required.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to foster inclusive and high-expectation classroom culture.
• Commitment to professional growth through coaching, reflection and collaboration.

Responsabilités

• Ensure classroom culture with high expectations and high support.
• Create an inclusive environment addressing race, identity, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Plan and implement a coherent, research-based curriculum.
• Use data to refine curriculum and instruction.
• Build strong relationships with scholars, families, and colleagues.
• Participate in weekly coaching, professional development, and data-driven reflection.
• Support social-emotional well-being of scholars.
• Engage students in current events and community service.
