Job summary

Half Hollow Hills Central School District seeks a New York State Certified School Social Worker for a leave replacement in its elementary schools, effective November 12, 2026 to March 1, 2027. The role focuses on mandated counseling per IEPs/504 plans and fostering inclusive, equity-centered support for a diverse student population.

Qualifications

• Must hold NYS School Social Worker certification.
• Experience supporting students with IEPs and 504 plans.
• Ability to work across multiple buildings and adapt to varied caseloads.
• Familiarity with MTSS/RTI processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide mandated counseling services and individualized support as outlined in students' IEPs or 504 plans.
• Facilitate social skills groups, conflict resolution sessions, and restorative practices to promote positive peer interactions.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, special educators, and related service providers to integrate social-emotional learning into the school environment.
• Build trusting, culturally responsive relationships with students and their families to strengthen home-school connections.
• Serve as a resource and support for school staff in understanding child development, behavioral concerns, and mental health.
• Participate in MTSS/RTI teams to contribute to data-driven decision-making and early intervention strategies.
• Provide crisis intervention and support during times of student or school-wide need.
• Maintain clear, professional communication with families, staff, and community agencies.
• Work flexibly across multiple buildings, demonstrating adaptability and strong organizational skills in managing a varied caseload.
• Foster an environment of inclusivity and belonging for all students, with a strong commitment to equity and support for a diverse population.
