Job summary

Marblehead Public Schools is seeking an enthusiastic Elementary School Librarian (K-3) for a one-year appointment. The role focuses on fostering a love of reading, literacy, and inquiry while integrating technology in Grades K–3.

The Librarian will plan lessons aligned to state frameworks, collaborate with teachers, manage the collection, and support students with information literacy and digital citizenship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Library Science or School Library Media preferred.
• Massachusetts licensure as a School Library Teacher/Library Media Specialist preferred, or eligibility for licensure.
• Experience working with elementary-aged students preferred.
• Knowledge of children's literature and best practices in elementary literacy instruction.
• Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to integrate educational technology into library instruction.

Responsibilities

• Plan and teach weekly library lessons aligned with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and district goals.
• Promote literacy by encouraging a lifelong love of reading through book talks, author studies, reading challenges, and special events.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to support curriculum, research, and literacy initiatives.
• Develop lessons that incorporate information literacy, digital citizenship, and age-appropriate technology skills.
• Select, organize, and maintain the library collection to meet the diverse needs and interests of students and staff.
• Manage library circulation, inventory, and technology resources.
• Provide individualized support to students as needed.
• Establish and communicate clear learning objectives for all library lessons.
• Maintain accurate records and evaluate student participation and growth.
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff.
• Attend faculty meetings, professional development, and school events as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and student-centered Elementary School Librarian to join our school community for a one-year appointment.
