Job summary

Centennial School District No. R-1 is seeking a Secondary School Counselor to promote the academic, social, and emotional well-being of students. The role emphasizes guiding ICAP planning and college and career exploration within a collaborative school setting.

The counselor will provide individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and consultation with teachers, parents, and administrators. A Colorado license and master’s degree are required for this 10-month position.

Qualifications

  • Experience in providing counseling or related services to K-12 students (preferred).
  • Master’s degree in school counseling or related field (required).
  • Appropriate Colorado school counselor license (required).
  • Strong knowledge of counseling theories, student development, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Support Students in developing Individualized Career and Academic Plans (ICAP). This includes: Academic Support, College and Career Counseling, and ICAP/senior seminar integration.
  • Personal and Social Development: Promote social and emotional skills, provide counseling, foster empathy and inclusivity.
  • Individual and Group Counseling (Tier 1 and 2): Conduct individual counseling and lead group sessions on topics like bullying prevention, anger management, or study skills.
  • Crisis Intervention: Respond to and support students during crisis, grief, or emergencies, coordinating with staff and resources.
  • Collaboration and Consultation: Develop intervention strategies with teachers, administrators, and parents.
  • Parent and Community Engagement: Conduct workshops and collaborate with community organizations for student support.
  • Data Analysis and Program Evaluation: Use data to assess counseling programs and inform decisions.
  • School Record Maintenance and Registration: Maintain records, enrollments, transcripts, and assessments.
  • Other Duties: Accomplishes other duties as assigned.
