Job summary

Custer County School District C-1 in Westcliffe, CO is seeking an Elementary School Counselor to support students in grades K–5. The role focuses on social-emotional, behavioral development and a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with best practices.

The counselor will build relationships with students, staff, and families, and collaborate with teachers and district teams. Start date is August 2026; position is full-time in a rural district.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in School Counseling or related field.
• Colorado School Counselor License or ability to obtain is required.
• Experience with MTSS and trauma-informed practices is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small group counseling to support students' social-emotional and behavioral needs.
• Deliver classroom guidance lessons on emotional regulation, conflict resolution, and character development.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to support student success.
• Assist in developing and implementing behavior intervention plans and MTSS processes.
• Respond to crisis situations and provide appropriate support and referrals.
• Promote a positive school climate and culture of respect and inclusion.
• Maintain accurate and confidential student records.
• Connect families with community resources and supports.
