Job summary

Taylor Elementary School in Colorado Springs is seeking a School Counselor to provide academic, career, and social-emotional counseling. The role reports to the Principal, with a 0.6 FTE schedule across 187 days, under the district salary schedule.

The counselor will deliver direct services, collaborate with families and staff, participate in IEP/504 planning, and contribute to MTSS/PBIS/SEL implementation while upholding ethical standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education or related field
• Master’s degree or higher in an approved area of specialization (if required for CDE License)
• Valid Colorado Special Services Provider License
• Minimum of three years of experience in the assigned discipline or related practice
• Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish or other district-identified languages) preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, evidence-based services to support students’ academic, social, emotional, behavioral, and physical development.
• Consult and collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to identify student needs and develop effective support strategies.
• Participate in multidisciplinary teams to evaluate and develop IEPs, 504 plans, or other student support plans.
• Support school-wide systems (MTSS, PBIS, SEL) and monitor intervention effectiveness.
• Respond to crises and advocate for equitable access to educational opportunities.
