Job summary

Norwalk Public Schools seeks an Assistant Principal for Shaw Elementary School for the 2026-2027 school year. This administrator will support the Principal in directing programs, supervising staff, and advancing school goals.

In the absence of the Principal, you will act as the authoritative leader and collaborate with teachers, families, and central office to ensure high-quality instruction and student achievement. 12-month administrative position with salary per NASA contract.

Qualifications

• Must hold CSD Active Intermediate Administrator certification 092 or be eligible.
• CSD Special Education or Related Services endorsement or certificate.
• Successful leadership experience.
• Experience in elementary school teaching or related services preferred.
• Alternatives to the above qualifications may be acceptable as determined by the Superintendent/Board.

Responsibilities

• Assist Principal in directing, coordinating and evaluating school programs and staff.
• Lead and act as administrator in Principal's absence; supervise staff and coordinate with parents.
• Develop master schedule; implement policies and instructional programs; participate in committees.
• Monitor attendance and collaborate with special education and guidance departments.
• Conduct classroom observations, evaluate staff, and communicate with Central Office.
