Job summary

Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School is seeking a full-time resource teacher to support elementary students (PK–5) and cover absences, breaks, and meetings. The role emphasizes differentiated instruction, student-centered teaching, and proactive communication within a collaborative school community.

The candidate should be committed to child development, have strong oral and written communication skills, and be ready to engage with colleagues, families, and administrators.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years’ experience in elementary education.
• Strong communication skills and leadership.
• Excellent organization and planning with attention to detail.
• Background in teaching literacy, pre-reading and math.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Belief in Columbia Grammar’s educational philosophy.

Responsibilities

• Follow lesson plans as directed by the teacher or co‑teacher.
• Assist students in and out of the classroom.
• Collaborate with Grammar School staff, administrators and parents.
• Supervise lunchroom and recess; perform other duties.
• Document observations and participate in student data collection.
• Communicate professionally about students with staff, maintaining confidentiality.
• Conduct all work activities professionally; support the school community.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Divisional Director.
