Job summary

Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School is seeking a Grammar School Science Teacher (Leave Replacement) to join the Science Department and STEM Committee. The position runs from now through late January, with potential extension through the school year.

The role requires guiding students, collaborating on curriculum, and maintaining clear family communication. A Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s preferred, with two years of teaching experience and state certification helpful.

Qualifications

• Belief in and alignment with Columbia Grammar’s core beliefs and educational philosophy
• Proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom
• Mastery of and enthusiasm for academic subjects
• Evidence of self-motivation and willingness to be a team player
• Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree is preferred
• Responsive Classroom Training is a plus, willingness to take the course is necessary
• Minimum of two years teaching experience
• Valid State Certification is helpful but not required

Responsibilities

• Create, prepare and teach lessons in the designated subject areas in accordance with CGPS curriculum
• Teach curricula and activities to meet academic standards
• Assist with curriculum development with the teaching team and Director
• Design and administer assessments
• Use data to refine curriculum and inform practices
• Maintain anecdotal and assessment records for parent conferences
• Lead differentiated instruction and provide feedback
• Participate in curriculum development and school functions
• Be accountable for mastery of standards
• Maintain communication with families about progress
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
• Engage in professional development and seek external opportunities
• Demonstrate alignment with CGPS mission and values
• Assume duties and assist with coverage when needed
• Any additional duties as assigned by the Divisional Director
