Job summary

Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School is seeking a Grammar School Science Teacher (Leave Replacement) to join the Science Department, STEM Committee, and Grammar School Faculty. The position starts immediately through the semester, with potential extension through the school year.

The role requires independent lesson planning, differentiated instruction, and collaboration with colleagues to maintain curriculum standards and family communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred
• Responsive Classroom Training is a plus, willingness to take the course is necessary
• Minimum of two years teaching experience
• Valid State Certification is helpful but not required

Responsibilities

• Create, prepare and teach lessons in designated subject areas in accordance with the CGPS curriculum
• Teach curricula to meet academic standards
• Assist with curriculum development with Grammar School team and Director
• Design and administer assessments that measure progress toward standards
• Use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices
• Maintain anecdotal and assessment records for conferences and reporting
• Lead differentiated instruction and provide individualized feedback
• Participate in collaborative curriculum development and school-wide functions
• Be accountable for mastery of academic standards
• Maintain communication with families about each child’s progress
• Communicate effectively with students, families and colleagues
• Engage in professional development opportunities
• Demonstrate commitment to CGPS mission and values
• Assume responsibility for assigned duties
• Assist with coverage of classrooms when needed
• Take on additional duties as assigned by Divisional Director

GRAMMAR SCHOOL SCIENCE TEACHER (LEAVE REPLACEMENT)

The Grammar School Science teacher will teach as a member of the Science Department, the STEM Committee, and the Grammar School Faculty. This is a leave replacement position that will start immediately and end of the semester (late January) but will have the possibility of extending through the end of the school year.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

• Create,prepareand teach lessons in the designated subject areas in accordance with the curriculum of CGPS
• Teach curricula and activities to meet academic standards;
• Assist with developing, reviewing, and updating curriculum in conjunction with Grammar School teaching team and Grammar School Director
• Design and administer assessments that measure progress towards academic standards
• Use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices
• Maintain anecdotal and assessment records in preparation for parent conferences and report writing.
• Lead differentiated instruction and provide meaningful, individualized feedback and support to students.
• Participate in collaborative curriculum development, and school-wide functions;
• Be accountable for students’ mastery of academic standards;
• Maintain consistent close communication with families about each child’s progress
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
• Engage in professional development opportunities presented by school and also seek out development from reputable outside organizations
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to, belief in, and alignment with CGPS’s mission and values
• Assumes responsibility for assigned duties
• Assists with coverage of classrooms when needed and available
• Any additional duties as assigned by the Grammar School Divisional Director.

WORK HOURS

• Leave replacement to start immediately and end of the semester (late January) but will have the possibility of extending through the end of the school year.
• Work hours are 7:45 am - 3:15 pm with occasional faculty meetings and/or department meetings through 3:45 pm

COMPENSATION

The salary range for this position is $76,000 - $118,500 annually based on completed degree programs and years of experience. We also offer a warm and supportive culture as well as exceptional benefits including but not limited to:
