Job summary

Columbus Metropolitan Library is seeking a School Reading Assistant to provide one-on-one literacy support to K-3 students within Columbus City elementary settings. The role follows the school calendar and hours align with the district schedule.

You will apply research-based strategies to deliver targeted instruction, assess reading levels, and support teachers with literacy interventions. This is a seasonal, part-time role up to 16 hours weekly.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Experience and desire to work with elementary age children.
• Ability to operate library technology including PC, email, Windows/Microsoft Office.
• Reliable transportation to promptly report to job assignment.

Responsibilities

• Provides support to K-3 grade students facing difficulties with literacy skills.
• Teaches targeted literacy intervention to students through one-on-one interactions daily.
• Provides specific literacy instruction to individual K-3 students or small groups using curricular materials.
• May deliver additional reading skill instruction using library processes and materials.
• Conducts individual assessments to evaluate reading levels and targeted interventions.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
