Job summary

Winthrop University seeks a Literacy Intervention Team tutor to read with elementary students at local schools and help improve basic reading skills. Earn $11.00 per hour and make a difference in a child’s life through one-on-one and small-group activities.

Open to all majors (education majors preferred). Training provided; schedule based on class commitments, with 5–10 hours per week in the Rock Hill area.

Qualifications

• Mandatory attendance at monthly meet-ups and active participation in trainings
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills
• Clean background check
• Availability Monday through Friday, based on class schedule and availability

Responsibilities

• Provide reading help to children, kindergarten through 5th grade, through fun and interactive activities
• Follow directions and guidance from public school staff and teachers
• Attend reading tutor training and monthly meet-ups with supervisor and fellow tutors
• Maintain accurate timesheet
