Open to all majors (education majors preferred). Training provided; schedule based on class commitments, with 5–10 hours per week in the Rock Hill area.

The LIT team, organized by Winthrop University’s career center, is a group of Winthrop University students who are mobilized and trained to help children “learn to read”, before they have to “read to learn”. This team is making a big difference in schools such as Ebenezer Avenue Elementary, Oakdale Elementary and India Hook Elementary. All majors accepted (education majors preferred).
Provide reading help to children, kindergarten through 5th grade, through fun and interactive activities: one-on-one reading, group reading and guided reading.
Follow directions and guidance from public school staff and teachers.
Attend reading tutor training and monthly meet-ups with supervisor and fellow tutors.
Maintain accurate timesheet.
