Job summary

West Woods Upper Elementary School in Farmington, CT, seeks a Permanent PD Substitute for the 2026-2027 school year to support Grades 5-6 and other elementary schools in the district. PD Sub daily pay rate is $144, with hours 8:30am - 3:30pm on school days.

The position guarantees an assignment on days with PD, reporting to differing elementary classrooms as needed. The Elementary PD Substitute is responsible for delivering instruction per lesson plans, maintaining classroom management, and

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Prior experience working with children or in an educational setting is a plus.
Ability to manage a classroom and adapt to a variety of teaching situations.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Patience, flexibility, and the ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of basic educational principles and practices.

Responsibilities

Follow lesson plans provided by the regular classroom teacher to ensure continuity of instruction.
Manage the classroom by maintaining student behavior and enforcing school rules and policies.
Deliver instructional material in a clear, engaging, and effective manner.
Provide supervision for students during lunch, recess, and other non-instructional times as needed.
Address and support the individual needs of students, providing additional guidance or assistance when necessary.
Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents when necessary.
Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.
Report any issues or concerns to the regular teacher or principal.
